Backstage, 1

Behind (and originally obscured by) the "mastaba" lies a relatively narrow section that cuts into the face of the cliff. Almost midway between the "mastaba" and the cliff you can see a trench that descends into the surface. It is the entrance to the tomb.

 

This is a view on the same section of the platform, seen from the Hathor shrine of "H".

Here we are looking from the back of the platform to the front, towards the Nile valley in the east. In the background to the right is the "mastaba". Close to the center of the picture is the trench that leads to the tomb. The dark section to the left is part of the side of the gully that goes into the face of the cliff. Above it you can just see part of "H".
